Scifest 2010 National award winners

SciFest 2010 was a huge success with 2649 students exhibiting 1097 projects in 15 venues throughout Ireland. This represented a 33.6% increase in the number of students participating compared to 2009. In the three years since SciFest was launched nationwide more than 6 241 students have exhibited projects.

Well done to all who participated ? students, teachers, parents, judges and regional organisers. Thank you to all who sponsored prizes at each event and to all who played a role in making it possible. We hope to see you all again at SciFest 2011.

There were lots of awards to be won at each SciFest event. The projects were of a very high standard so well done to all the deserving students who received awards.

Four major awards were presented at each Institute of Technology:

  • Best Project, sponsored by Intel Ireland
  • Runner-up Project, sponsored by Abbott Ireland
  • BT Best Communicator Award, sponsored by BT
  • Discover Sensors Award, sponsored by Discover Sensors (the best project in which the investigation involved substantial use of one or more digital sensors.)
2 prizes ? Winner Prize and Highly Commended Prize

Category prizes, display awards, and best communicator awards were also given and some of the Institutes of Technology presented trophies sponsored by the relevant Institute.

Mathematics in Science Award

At each Institute of Technology the judges were asked to identify the project which best illustrated the importance of mathematics in science.
