SciFest 2008 National Award Winners
SciFest 2008 was a huge success!
Congratulations to all who participated – students, teachers, parents, judges and regional organisers! We hope to see you all again at SciFest 2009.
There were lots of awards to be won. The projects were of a very high standard so well done to all the deserving students who received awards.
Four major awards were presented at each Institute of Technology:
Best Project, sponsored by Intel Ireland
Runner-up Project, sponsored by Microsoft Ireland
- Dell Award, sponsored by Dell Ireland (Physical Sciences Category - the project which involved the best experimental work.)
- Discover Sensors Award, sponsored by Discover Sensors (the best project in which the investigation involved substantial use of one or more digital sensors.)
Category prizes, display awards, and best communicator awards were also given and some of the Institutes of Technology presented trophies sponsored by the relevant Institute.
As part of the Discover Sensors Award the mentoring teacher of the winning project at each Institute of Technology received a laptop.
Congratulations to Michelle Rogan (Loreto College, Cavan), Syl McEvoy (Coláiste Lorcáin, Castledermot, Co Kildare), Séan Foley (Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, Blarney Co Cork), Ann Marie Mee (Muckross Park College, Donnybrook, Dublin), Michael Horgan (St Flannan,s College, Ennis, Co Clare), Brendan McHugh (St Gerald’s College, Castlebar, Co Mayo), Audrey Byrne (Lucan Community College, Co Dublin), and David King (Blackwater Community School, Co Waterford).
